What Is a Hague Apostille?
The Hague Apostille was introduced on 5 October 1961 by the Hague Convention Abolishing the Requirement of Legalisation for Foreign Public Documents. Instead of legalising each foreign document through a separate procedure, it is certified with a stamp known as an Apostille.
An Apostille is issued in the country where the document was issued, at the request of its holder. It applies to documents issued by authorities or officials of the state judiciary, public prosecution services, court registries and enforcement officers; documents issued or certified by a notary; official entries in public registers; and official certifications of signatures on private documents.
What Are Translations Certified by a Court Interpreter?
Documents issued by public authorities, in Bosnia and Herzegovina or abroad, must be translated and certified.
The Ministry of Justice authorises court interpreters, through an official appointment decision, to translate documents and certify them with a stamp guaranteeing that the translation faithfully matches the original.
In addition to written translations, you can engage our court interpreters for oral interpreting. They can attend civil marriage ceremonies, business meetings, signature certifications, and similar proceedings.
Which Documents Usually Require Certification by a Court Interpreter?
- Civil registry extracts (marriage, birth, and death certificates)
- Certificates and attestations
- Diplomas and certificates
- Court records
- Business documents
- Official letters (from administrative units, courts, and pension funds)
- Medical certificates (discharge summaries and diagnostic reports)
